Marco Island Realtors have been strong supporters of St. Matthew's House for many years. St. Matthew's House is located in Naples, Fla., and provides shelter and food to those in need.
Every Thanksgiving, the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors puts out a call to members and the community to donate trays of food for the shelter. The response is tremendous! Trays of food are brought to the association office on Thanksgiving morning and transported to the shelter by Realtor volunteers for the residents' Thanksgiving dinner.
Regularly throughout the year, Realtors donate furniture, clothing, diapers and other household items to St. Matthew's House.
Also, one of our members donates enough hot dogs and hamburgers with all the trimmings for a July 4 celebration.

Sarasota Association of Realtors (SAR) has sponsored a Habitat for Humanity build or renovation for the past three years, providing both funding and volunteer labor. In addition, in 2013, SAR contributed $10,000 to Community Assisted and Supported Living, which provides housing for disabled (mentally or physically) adults. In 2014, our direction is likely to change because the city and county are coming together to address the problem in our community. They hired a consultant, who issued an initial report. Community leaders are now identifying the initiatives to get started, and SAR plans to play a role, once those initiatives are identified.

The Realtors Association of Lake & Sumter Counties partnered with Deliver the Difference to feed the over 3,600 homeless children in Lake & Sumter County. Our members helped package the food that they deliver to the children through the backpack program (they take the backpacks and/or food packages to the school and they send it home with the children).
