In the past year, Larry Roth, an associate with The Keyes Co./Realtors®’ Homestead office, has seen a 35 percent increase in demand for residential property management services. Now, the office handles about 100 single-family, condo and town house rental units.
“Our business is all referral based,” he says. “Owners are turning more and more to licensed real estate companies to handle their rentals because of the turmoil in the marketplace.”
Roth says one of his office’s main selling points for owners is its use of a full screening process on potential tenants. In addition to checking references and credit reports, he will visit a prospective tenant’s current residence to verify the accuracy of his or her application. As he says, neither the owner nor the management firm wants to chase down a tenant for the monthly rent.
