Architecturally Awesome/Users/adamp/Desktop/Stuff for FAR/Magazine Assets/JAN09/images/ThatsLife

Known as the “Roundhouse on Riverwood,” this one-of-a-kind home was originally built in 1960 by Jack West, of the Sarasota School of Architecture, as a studio for local Bohemian painter Hilton Leech. The building was converted to a residence in 2004 and is officially designated historically significant by Sarasota County. With about 2,500 square feet of open living space, the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath brick home also features a remodeled kitchen, brand-new pool and new urethane roof.

Dome Home
With its geodesic dome design, this three-bedroom, two-bath home in the Emerald Hills section of Hollywood looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Not only does the living space go round in circles, but the home also features a spiral staircase (leading up to the master bedroom) and a circular drive. Oh, and it’s hurricane proof—built in 1984, to withstand winds up to Category 4.

Recently sold for $267,500 by Bonnie Kaufman, Keller Williams Realty Elite Properties.
