Five-year rule for property assessments goes high tech.
Currently, property appraisers are required to physically inspect real property every five years to assess its value. HB 595 by Rep. Bryan Nelson (R-Apopka) would allow an appraiser to use image technology in lieu of a physical inspection to assess property.  The measure also requires residential property owners seeking homestead exemption to provide evidence of primary residency, such as a driver’s license, voter registration card and motor vehicle registration. HB 595 cleared the State Affairs committee on a 9-0 vote and now goes before the House Government Efficiency & Accountability Council.
