3 big social media turn-offs

BALTIMORE – Jan. 30, 2013 – A recent survey by SocialToaster in Baltimore reveals ways in which social media users can alienate their connections.

To prevent being un-friended, avoid one of these slipups:

• Repetition: Make each post interesting; 51.2 percent of respondents say that repetition – recounting the same thing over and over – leads them to stop following someone.

• TMI (too much information): Keep it friendly, but not too friendly. Thirty-nine percent of social media users said that too much information – getting overly personal and sharing too many of life’s less-than-interesting details – is grounds for un-following someone.

• Poor grammar: Say it correctly – 34.1 percent of respondents said that poor grammar would prompt them to stop following a writer.
