HUD fair housing complaints easier to file

WASHINGTON – Feb. 28, 2013 – HP Enterprise Services announced that it developed a mobile application (app) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The new app allows would-be homebuyers or renters to quickly access information regarding housing discrimination, file complaints with HUD and find local contact information via their iPhone.

The app, called the “Housing Discrimination Complaint Application,” is one of the first ones released to the public by HUD. It can be found in Apple’s App Store and accessed through Apple devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

HUD also plans to release an Android version of the app.

The application enables HUD to fulfill digital strategy requirements set by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for developing mobile technologies.

“HUD needed an efficient and reliable solution to quickly extend existing capabilities to mobile computing devices,” says Marilyn Crouther, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services. “The new HP application achieves operational goals of HUD while more effectively addressing discrimination complaints.”
