SAN FRANCISCO – Nov. 13, 2013 – The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Realtor Magazine honored the nation’s top Young Professional Network (YPN) groups at its recent convention, and Florida Realtors’ YPN received the “State Network of the Year” award. In addition to the state award, the magazine honored the outstanding small, medium and large group, or “networks.”
The application process took place last summer. To be honored with an award, a network had to demonstrate “effective involvement within their association and community, while representing the strengths of young professionals in the real estate industry.”
“We never thought about getting an award,” says Chuck Bonfiglio Jr., Florida Realtors 2013 YPN chair from AAA Realty Group Inc. in Pembroke Pines. “We just rolled up our sleeves, put our heads down and worked hard. This is a group award for a great group.”
Bonfiglio says he’s impressed with his fellow Realtors in YPN. “I believe this group has future leaders you will hear from for a long time,” he says.
Dean Asher, Florida Realtors 2013 president, made the state YPN one of his top priorities, and Florida established almost half (15) of the 31 YPN groups nationwide in 2013, including the first one of the year (Bonita Springs-Estero) and the 300th in the nation (Punta Gorda-Port Charlotte-North Port).
Andrew Birchall with St. Augustine Realty in St. Augustine credits the NAR honor to a “laser-focus on establishing sound fundamentals for moving the Florida YPN forward. Success as a network comes for everyone involved. I am extremely proud of our dynamic group and feel honored to be a part of it.” Birchall will serve as Florida Realtors YPN chair in 2014.
Florida Realtors YPN was cited for a number of activities, including the launch of a bimonthly “Education Hour” webinar; a Florida YPN mobile app; creating YPN district contacts to help local boards communicate; and actively participating in the association’s annual legislative event, Great American Realtor Days. YPN even expanded its branding with a new slogan – “Connect. Empower. Lead.” – and identifiable orange/white wristbands and sunglasses.
“We are the future and have the opportunity, like never before, to seize it,” says Bonfiglio.
In addition to Florida Realtors’ state award, Realtor Magazine honored the following YPN networks:
• Small Network of the Year: Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors (N.C.)
• Medium Network of the Year: Placer County (Calif.) Association of Realtors
• Large Network of the Year: Columbus Realtors
