3 tips for selling a small kitchen
NEW YORK – June 5, 2014 – Many buyers seek great kitchen space – but the kitchen can be one of the trickiest rooms to stage, especially when the space is small.
If a seller's house is lacking in kitchen space, it's important to make it look as appealing as possible, says Megan Morris, founder of MHM Professional Staging. Morris, who has worked with celebrity clients, offers up three tips to help sell a small kitchen:
1. Remove all clutter and appliances from the countertops, leaving only one or two decorative items. This will make the space appear cleaner and larger, she says.
2. Make sure the kitchen is getting plenty of light. Dark spaces appear smaller, Morris says, so to open up the space make sure windows allow as much light through as possible. If a kitchen is naturally dark, add appealing forms of artificial lighting to do the trick.
3. If cabinets have seen better days, consider painting them white. White reflects light and helps make a space feel much bigger and open.
