BERLIN, Germany – June 25, 2014 – "Florida's real estate market has recovered," was the repeated message Florida Realtors® President Sherri Meadows, CEO and team leader, Keller Williams, with market centers in Gainesville, Ocala and The Villages, shared on a recent trade mission in Germany.
Meadows, representing the state's real estate industry and Florida Realtors' 127,000 members, led the trade mission June 9-13 with that clear statement to German investors looking to buy property in Florida.
"Our housing reports show continued improvement in prices and sales, which translate into a stable market and highlight the fact that prices are still affordable compared to other countries," Meadows said.
The ambassador group, which included 20 Realtors from Florida, started in Berlin and ended in Leipzig at the German Real Estate Association (IVD) annual conference. More than 600 agents and industry service providers from Germany attended the event.
Florida Realtors is the National Association of Realtors' Ambassador Association to the IVD, and the collaborative venture gave Realtors face time with industry experts on both sides of the Atlantic.
"We are honored to have these global networking connections with Florida's Realtors to establish solid working relationships," said IVD Vice President Jurgen Michael Schick. "The knowledge of all legal and economic circumstances that was shared between Realtors in Florida and Germany is fundamental for more international transactions."
In 2013, German buyers made up 5.3 percent of all international buyers in Florida, representing more than $300 million in sales. That number increased from 3.7 percent in 2012, according to NAR's 2013 Profile of International Homebuyers in Florida. Total international real estate sales in Florida accounted for $6.4 billion for the 12 months ending July 2013.
Florida's ambassadors invited German real estate professionals to become international members of Florida Realtors. And Germany's IVD association reciprocated with inviting Florida Realtors to become members listed on the German member website database.
Florida's international membership allows access to Florida Realtors' 127,000-member database, where members can search for bilingual Realtors whose specialties include global real estate. International members can set up a profile page on the Florida Living Network website to connect directly online with industry experts in Florida.
International members also receive daily industry news stories from Florida Realtors News and are mailed the award-winning Florida Realtor magazine monthly. Other benefits include proprietary market reports, and information to network and connect with Florida Realtors.
"Our takeaway from this global mission is that Germans are very interested in Florida's real estate market, and they value the networking opportunities we offer," Meadows said.
