TAXES According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), listing brokers who pay a cooperative commission over $600 to an individual who isn’t an employee must complete Form 1099-MISC. While this is not a new law, NAR says that not all real estate professionals are aware of the requirement. Have questions? NAR has information (login required) posted on its Web site at: http://www.realtor.org/letterlw.nsf/pages/1208_1099?OpenDocument&Login. IRS instructions for completing Form 1099-MISC and the form itself can be found at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1099msc.pdf Questions, comments or suggestions on this article? Have a news tip?
