BUILD A TEAM Realty firms looking to develop a strong team of associates or implement a marketing plan need a strategy that helps them achieve their goals. Depending on their objectives, they might want to consider mentoring programs to help new associates, hiring associates with a lot of Web expertise to further online efforts and creating advertising campaigns for each of the firm’s target audiences. After assigning personnel to each strategy and suggesting input, the marketing plan should be put in writing, detailing each team member’s responsibilities and the specific strategic goals. Firms should involve staff in the initial stages of the project, which increases the likelihood that they’ll be receptive to the final plan. Additionally, firms should impose quantifiable standards – such as dollar volume and number of listings – and determine whether they have been met, making adjustments to the plan if substantial deviations suggest that standards were too high. Finally, firms should recognize the need to change their plans as the marketplace evolves. Source: Realty Times (10/02/07) Koelzer, Bill © Copyright 2007 INFORMATION, INC.
