HOME IS WHERE EVERYBODY IS?

From 2000 to 2007, the U.S. Census reports a 42 percent jump in the number of heads of household residing with parents, siblings and other relatives. Soaring shelter costs, the economic downturn and an increase in the immigrant population are responsible for the rise in intergenerational households. While elderly parents typically move in with their adult children, there was a 75 percent surge in the number of parents under age 65 doing so.
