On Camera Spokesperson addresses camera: For 105 years, the Realtor voice has been heard loud and clear here in Tallahassee. Realtors throughout Florida have consistently celebrated important legislative victories due to the strong relationships they've built with legislators. Of course, they've also invested heavily in their profession through PAC contributions. In 2020 alone, Realtors in Florida raised nearly $5 million, the most raised by any state in the nation. In 2020, Florida produced 937 major investors, the most Hall of Fame inductees in the country for a given year at 28, and 104 Presidents Circle members. And consider that more than 95% of candidates endorsed by Florida Realtors won their respective races in 2020. By the way, ten of those candidates were Realtors® or Realtor® affiliates. You've got to love that. So what kind of legislative victories did Florida's Realtors® actually accomplish over the last two years? They advocated for more than $350 million for affordable housing programs. Pushed for property insurance reforms to help curb rising premium costs and keep Florida's insurance market healthy. Secured $2,465,000,000 to protect Florida's waterways. Made Florida's business climate more inviting by lowering the state sales tax on commercial leases from 5.5% to just 2%. Enacted liability protections to protect Florida businesses from fraudulent COVID 19 lawsuits. Made transactions easier by helping owners close, open or expired permits, and enabled online remote notaries. And they lobbied for a combined $1 million to combat unlicensed real estate activity in the state. In Florida, Realtors do what needs to be done to protect the Sunshine State and protect their bottom line. That's who we are.
