Keeping Ahead of Social Media Trends in RE Marketing

Real estate marketing thrives on short videos, local posts, quick updates and personal connections. AI helps, but genuine content and paid boosts build relationships.

NEW YORK – Social media has become essential to real estate marketing to connect with clients. Some of the key social media trends that agents should embrace include:

  • Short-form vertical video, especially on platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, continues to drive engagement. The most effective content feels casual and genuine rather than polished and scripted.
  • Quick market updates, neighborhood tours, and behind-the-scenes glimpses help agents build trust and familiarity. Buyers, especially younger ones, often use social platforms to find agents and get a feel for local markets, so posts should be clear, relevant, and optimized with the right keywords.
  • While artificial intelligence (AI) tools can help brainstorm and draft ideas, it's the personal connection that builds lasting relationships. Repurposing content across channels can help agents stay visible without constantly starting from scratch.
  • With organic reach declining, even modest paid promotion can give strong posts a boost.
  • Posts rooted in local life, such as favorite coffee shops, school tips, or community events, tend to resonate the most. Agents who show up regularly and share what they know about their communities are the ones building real, lasting connections.

“Social media platforms will continue to evolve, but one thing stays the same: clients want to work with agents who are visible, valuable, and in tune with how the world communicates. By leaning into these trends (e.g., short-form video, social search, authentic content, and smart repurposing), you’re positioning yourself to lead,” Realtors.com said.
