Tech tools that help Realtors reduce safety risks
About 22% of Realtors have faced a safety concern. Screening apps, panic buttons and smarter lockboxes can provide added protection before and during showings.
Nearly one in four Realtors® (or 22%) have experienced situations that raised safety concerns, with open houses cited as the highest-risk scenario when agents meet unverified individuals alone.
Safety has become an area where technology can offer tools to reduce risk before and during showings.
One of the most popular is the identity-verification app Forewarn, which allow agents to screen prospects using phone numbers or names before appointments. Forewarn returns background information in seconds. Florida Realtors® provides free Forewarn access to all members.
Other popular tech includes wearable panic buttons with discrete emergency alerts that trigger automatic 911 calls if contacts don't respond. Lockbox technology now includes Bluetooth access paired with showing-service platforms that create showing records and alerts.
Community-based systems, like Real Safe Agent, emphasize preventing isolation by coordinating agent participation across brokerages and associations.
