Agents should test brokerage tech, not just trust the pitch

Agents should watch their brokerage’s CRM, transaction and AI tools handle everyday tasks, compare them with other firms’ systems and ask whether tech fees deliver reliable, integrated platforms that cut duplicate work, Inman reports.

Real estate professionals should understand what technology their brokerage provides and whether those tools are actually helping them run their business more efficiently.

Full-service firms may offer CRMs, transaction systems, AI features, and other platforms, but paying a technology fee does not necessarily mean the systems are well integrated or easy to use.

Agents can get a better sense of the value by seeing the technology perform everyday tasks and comparing that experience with tools used at other firms. Reviews and conversations with peers can also reveal problems that may not surface during a recruiting presentation.

Cost deserves attention as well, particularly when a brokerage charges separately for proprietary technology.

Knowing what a system does, how reliably it works, and whether it reduces duplicate work can help agents judge whether their brokerage is delivering the level of support it promises.
