Home buyers turn to AI to help with their search
Buyers are using AI to compare homes, review reports and test affordability, but agents still play a key role in verifying information and providing local context.
Home buyers are using AI to narrow searches, compare properties, review inspection reports, and test whether homes fit their budgets and priorities.
A July Bright MLS survey found that nearly 40% of prospective buyers would be fully comfortable using AI alone to search for a property, though many still want a person to review the results.
Agents are also using the technology to organize customer preferences, summarize conversations and filter out unsuitable listings before showings begin.
The tools can save time, but outdated listings and incomplete property data remain common problems.
"AI is helpful for the quantitative aspects of home buying, but for the qualitative stuff you have a real estate agent who knows the area well," buyer Austin Ledet told the Washington Post.
Agents may need to help clients verify AI-generated information and interpret what the technology misses.
