7 Content Ideas for a Real Estate Podcast

The big goal: Entice people to tune in for every episode. It’s a tall order that starts with showing the real you – or at least seeming to – and telling real-life stories.

CHICAGO – When creating a real estate podcast, content should be engaging and make people want to tune in for every episode. How to do that?

Realtor Magazine’s Melissa Dittmann Tracey and The RECollective’s Barb Betts say episodes should be conversational and address listeners directly. Use an authentic voice and share real-life stories.

Both say podcast episodes offer a more intimate connection with an audience than other mediums because listeners often use headphones or are in their cars, which mirrors a one-on-one conversation.

They also offer a warning: Not all episodes should be done solo. Guests can offer additional perspectives on topics and provide a more well-rounded experience.

Scripts can also help guide a podcast through points where hosts get stumped or need a little direction. However, host and guests shouldn’t go off topic.

Podcasts also need to answer consumer questions, and hosts need to keep their audience in mind so that the information is served to them in a way they understand. Topics can include things like:

  • How to hire a contractor
  • How to prepare a house for sale
  • The latest takeaways from conferences or books
  • Hot topics in coming out of just-released real estate studies
  • Holiday-themed episodes
  • Tell stories or secrets
  • Lists that build curiosity, such as “Best of” or “Top 10” lists
