Bathroom Design Trends to Incorporate

Wet rooms are rising in popularity, now featured in 16% of bathroom remodels, as homeowners seek spa-like designs, better accessibility and timeless, neutral styles.

NEW YORK — The 2025 U.S. Houzz Bathroom Trends Study shows that homeowners are looking for fresh bathroom designs.

Eighteen percent of homeowners chose horizontally stacked shower wall tiles, while about one third expanded their bathrooms by building additions. Others repurposed spaces like closets or bedrooms.

Frosted glass tops the list of window treatments at 27%.

"The share of projects featuring wet rooms grew by 3 percentage points year over year," said Marine Sargsyan, staff economist at Houzz.

Wet rooms now make up 16% of remodels, often for better use of space or accessibility, which remains a leading priority for 68% of homeowners. Transitional style leads bathroom updates at 22%, while wellness-focused features and neutral tones continue to shape spa-like, timeless spaces.
