Taking Back Control of Your Time

As demands and constant communication mount, agents who make clearer choices about time, energy and routines are better positioned to sustain momentum.

NEW YORK – In real estate, feeling worn down often happens slowly, when customer demands, constant communication and market pressure start running the day instead of intentional choices.

“Regaining control in real estate isn’t about doing less. It’s about deciding more. Deciding how you work. Deciding where your energy goes. Deciding what matters early, before the year decides for you,” Darryl Davis, CEO of Darryl Davis Seminars, said in Inman.

Agents who regain control start with practical shifts, including setting clearer boundaries around availability, identifying specific sources of pressure rather than letting stress stay generalized and focusing energy on preparation, follow-up, and execution instead of factors outside their control.

Many also simplify their routines before adding anything new, narrow the voices they take advice from and create daily completion points that turn lingering tasks into finished work.

Addressing small issues early, treating energy as a business asset, and stabilizing routines before pursuing growth can reduce friction and restore momentum.

The common theme isn’t doing less work but making clearer choices about how time and energy are used before urgency fills the gaps.

“That’s how this business becomes something you manage — not something that manages you,” Davis said.
