Younger snowbirds reshape Florida home searches
Some Florida agents say remote work is bringing younger seasonal buyers to the state, with buyers in their 30s and 40s splitting time between homes.
Some of Florida’s seasonal homebuyers are bringing their careers with them, giving real estate agents a younger group of customers whose wish lists go beyond a winter getaway.
Remote work is allowing buyers in their 30s and 40s to split their time between homes, Nick Pipitone wrote in Inman. Some agents in states that include Florida say they’re seeing a larger number of younger seasonal buyers who are, in effect, becoming snowbirds well before retirement.
“Our snowbirds are getting younger,” Jonathan Dolphus, RWorld president and leader of the Dolphus Group at eXp Realty in Lake Worth and West Palm Beach, told Inman. “It used to be the typical retired snowbird. Now it’s more of a hybrid between the digital nomad and the snowbird.”
In Miami, the change is also reshaping the sales calendar, said Michael Martirena, who leads Compass’ Ivan and Mike Team with Ivan Chorney.
“Summer season used to be extremely slow for us, and now we’re busy throughout the entire summer,” Martirena told Inman.
Agents in Arizona and Georgia described similar interest in homes that support working remotely.
