Driving referrals with stronger relationships

Agents can generate more referrals by staying connected with past customers and community contacts, offering useful help and making personal introductions easier.

Generating 24 referrals in a year amounts to two per month, a goal agents can approach by focusing more deliberately on the relationships most likely to produce future business.

Rather than continually expanding their contact lists, agents can identify past customers, community connections and other people who already know and trust them, then make regular time to strengthen those relationships. Helping others can also make an agent more memorable, whether that means connecting someone with a trusted service provider or supporting a local business.

Content can reinforce that visibility when it demonstrates clear knowledge of local properties, the transaction process, and the community. Agents may also have better results asking for personal introductions instead of broadly requesting referrals.

Tracking consistent outreach and relationship-building activity gives agents something they can control, even when the timing of an actual referral is unpredictable.
