Realtor® Kimberlie Griggs: Building Community
CRESTVIEW, Fla. — On her first real estate transaction, Kimberlie Griggs found herself facing an obstacle most new agents might shy away from. Her client was adamant: the deal would not close unless the seller replaced a window. “I’m like, I just want the window replaced. I don’t care. I’ll pay for the window,” she recalls. Determined to see the transaction through, she quietly covered the expense herself.
At closing, the listing agent surprised her with a thank-you card – and half the cost of the window. “She had written a note and basically halved the expense of replacing window with me and said, ‘That wasn’t your responsibility to get done, but thank you for getting us to the finish line.’” For Griggs, that moment of professional grace shaped her outlook. “That really touched me and made me realize I hope I’m that person to a newer agent that’s coming along.”
Today, Kimberlie Griggs is a broker-associate with The Property Group 850 in Crestview, and a Florida Realtors® Board Certified Professional. Her career began nearly two decades ago, somewhat unexpectedly, when she took a part-time role in property management during college. “I ended up really loving the job,” she says. After managing 150 single-family homes in Fort Walton Beach, she explored HOA (Homeowners Association) management before realizing her true passion was residential sales. Encouraged by her sister to join a local brokerage, she has been specializing in single-family homes for 15 years.
Griggs’s passion lies in new construction. “My husband actually became a builder, so we’ve been able to partner on a few projects,” she explains. From helping with design and budgeting to ensuring affordability across various price ranges, she excels at guiding clients through the process from blueprint to closing.
Her professional drive is matched by deep community involvement. One of her most memorable volunteer projects took place at Hope House, a foster care shelter in Crestview. “We were able to go in there and realize that every house is a home, whether it’s a listing we have or if it’s this house that’s able to temporarily house these children while they’re in transition,” she shares.
Beyond real estate, Griggs organizes fundraisers for pediatric cancer research through the Rally Foundation of the Emerald Coast. Last year, she spearheaded a designer handbag bingo event that raised nearly $10,000. She also volunteers annually with Habitat for Humanity.
As an agent, she is known for her meticulous communication. “I try to make sure that the steps are over-communicated to [clients]. I never want to take it for granted that they know what the next step is,” she says. Though she uses Customer Management Relationship (CRM) systems and other software, she remains loyal to her pen-and-paper planner: “I just kind of like everything right in front of me so that it’s a daily reminder.”
When asked why she pursued earning Florida Realtors’ Board Certified Professional endorsement, her answer reflects her lifelong commitment to professionalism. “Certifications and any kind of continuing education just help you further your professionalism and your role in the industry,” she explains.
Griggs views the endorsement as both a personal achievement and a model for others. “Any opportunity I have for education, I take it, and then I encourage my fellow agents to [do the same].”
