Realtor® Sandra Fernandez: Changing Careers Led to Real Estate Success
MIAMI — Nineteen years into a career at Miami Children’s Hospital, Sandra Fernandez looked around her department and did the math. She loved the work but felt limited in her career advancement. Over lunch, she told her manager how stuck she felt. The reply changed everything: “Let’s take a real estate class together.”
They did. Sandra sat for the exam and passed. Her manager never took the test. Two decades later, Sandra’s a broker-associate with Lifestyle International Realty.
Fernandez sells both residential and commercial, but her heart is with everyday families buying their first home. “Luxury’s fine, but I love the nine-to-five parents who’ve saved and sacrificed,” she says. “That closing-day grin? That’s the payoff.”
She’s built a reputation on clear expectations, budget discipline, and steady communication, she says, “even if it’s a two-minute call to say there’s no update yet.”
Her second passion runs inside the industry: growing new agents. While others dodge rookies, Sandra leans in. “I love planting seeds and watching them thrive,” she says.
She mentors generously, everything from how to structure a week to what it takes to open a brokerage. “You earn trust across the table,” she says. “Explain your plan – and then do the work you promised.”
If you’re looking for her superpower, it’s hiding in plain sight: obsessive organization. Multiple inboxes flow into Outlook. Red notification dots don’t survive the hour. Every email, text, and call gets handled and filed before bedtime. A part-time virtual assistant helps publish content on social media, update websites, and keep her CRM humming. This frees Sandra to stay on the phone and in the field.
“When you’re organized, you either get more time to rest or more time to produce. I’ll take both,” she quips.
Sandra chaired Relay for Life at West Kendall Baptist Hospital and continues to support its family-friendly events, ranging from community Easter egg hunts to a booth-style Halloween. As past chair of the Greater Kendall Business Association, she helped spotlight and jump-start local businesses with member meetups and media features.
She’s also all-in on advocacy: a Major Investor in RPAC (President’s Circle), she turns up for the local fundraisers and shows agents that policy and professionalism are part of the job.
Global ties round out the picture. A former NAR liaison to Spain, Sandra partnered with leaders there to galvanize women’s involvement – helping revive a national women’s network that now holds regular elections and boasts hundreds of members. She continues to serve as an ambassador to women’s real estate organizations across Europe and Latin America, building bridges that turn into business.
Why pursue the Florida Realtors® Board Certified endorsement? Credibility and example. With 19 designations and certifications and past leadership at the state level, she wanted a visible standard that says, “I mean business.”
Sandra Fernandez takes her time when it comes building real estate success. She’s stacking trust one organized day, one taught-well agent, one first-home key handoff at a time.
