New NAR Guides: Auctions, Attorneys

Two new NAR Consumer Guides explain how home auctions work and what to know when hiring a real estate attorney.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Real estate auctions and the role of real estate attorneys take center stage in the newest Consumer Guides published by the National Association of Realtors®. The newly released resources explore the complexities of buying a home at auction and outline what consumers should know when working with an attorney who focuses on real estate law.

In the Real Estate Auctions guide, NAR answers questions about the types of auctions, what to know before bidding and where to find auctions. The Working With a Real Estate Attorney guide focuses on what services real estate attorneys provide for buyers and sellers, their role in real estate transactions and how to find one.

As with the other Consumer Guides in the NAR series, both guides also focus on ensuring customers have the tools they need to make informed choices following the practice changes that began Aug. 17, highlighting the value of working with a Realtor®.

All of NAR’s Consumer Guides can be printed as handouts. Most are available in English and Spanish. NAR’s resources can also be viewed at facts.Realtor.
