Using personality to boost listing videos

Creative, personality-driven listing videos are helping agents stand out, build recognizable brands and turn views into listings and leads. A Naples-area Realtor highlighted by NAR shows how.

Say goodbye to boring room-by-room listing videos.

Listing videos are becoming more personality-driven, with agents leaning into humor, music, storytelling and repeatable social formats to break through the scroll, and the payoff can be significant, the National Association of Realtors® reported.

Take, for example, Sue "Pinky" Benson, who has capitalized on pink to build a recognizable brand. Benson, leader of The Benson Boutique Real Estate Team with RE/MAX Alliance, is known in Naples and the internet as the “Pink Lady of Real Estate.”

Her signature style began as a way to stand out among several agents named Sue in her office and evolved into a memorable identity. Pink everything – clothing, hair, car, marketing. The nickname “Pinky” and her signature look have stuck for more than 20 years, Melissa Dittmann Tracey said in NAR’s Realtor® magazine.

“Benson’s pink branding is so ingrained that clients notice when it’s missing. ‘If I don’t show up in pink, people go, ‘Oh my gosh, where’s the pink?’ she says. They’ll also send her pictures of anything pink, from clothes to even dolphins, that make them think of her,” Tracey wrote.

Benson suggests agents find their own voice and niche in their social media journey.

“The only way to show up authentically is with value and your own voice,” Benson told NAR.

Other tips to remember when building a social media presence:

  • Rather than relying on flashy stunts, agents need to use a strong hook that signals value to home buyers and sellers.
  • Consistency over time can also turn into recognition.
  • Agents who make an emotional connection with potential buyers and sellers can generate leads and sales.
  • Agents also need to have their own voice, showcasing their value for clients and authenticity. In a crowded feed, that kind of memorability can help both listings and branding stick.
