Two Florida Cities Stand Out As Top Rental Markets

Orlando and Fort Lauderdale are among the nation’s top 30 rental markets for 2024, according to Rent Cafe.

MIAMI – Two Florida metro areas are among the top 30 most attractive cities in the nation for apartment dwellers in 2024, according to Rent Café.

Orlando and Fort Lauderdale ranked 5 and 26, respectively, for 2024 rental activity, Rent Café found in its review of cities to watch.  In 2023, renters favored 105% more Orlando apartments compared to the previous year, and RentCafe.com experienced an 18% increase in online traffic for these listings. Fort Lauderdale, which outperformed Miami in rental demand throughout last year, appeared five times on the list of most popular renting hubs, peaking at #18 in June. Renters added 67% more Fort Lauderdale apartments to their favorites compared to the previous year. This heightened interest led to a 38% drop in available listings in 2023, marking one of the highest declines in availabilities among the cities analyzed, Rent Café said.

At the same time, Hialeah ranked 38th in 2023, with a 115% increase in favorited listings and 5% more apartment views. Meanwhile, Miami ranked 41st in 2023. Here, available apartments decreased by 4% and renters added 60% more apartments to their favorites lists.
